To support and enhance the physical and emotional well-being of disadvantaged children by providing products and services not otherwise provided by levels of government, insurance or other organizations. Children are usually referred to the organization by a health or social care professional.
Programs include Angel Hair for Kids and Kids Life-Line. Types of help include, but are not limited to, the following examples:

BC Cancer Agency

To cover the spectrum of cancer care, from prevention and screening, to diagnosis, treatment, and through to rehabilitation; to reduce the incidence of cancer, to reduce the mortality rate of people with cancer, and to improve the quality of life of people living with cancer
- Operates five regional cancer centres, providing assessment and diagnostic services, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and supportive care
- Communities Oncology Network - a collaborative partnership with 19 community-based cancer centres, six community-based cancer services, and 10 consultative clinics across the province, in conjunction with the BC Cancer Agency’s five regional cancer centres. Supports appropriate delivery of patient care and support in 27 other community hospitals
- Pediatric Oncology Network enhances the community care of children and families by bringing multidisciplinary teams together to diagnose, manage, and follow-up pediatric patients with malignancies and blood disorders.
- Family Practice Oncology Network assists the BC Cancer Agency in its mandate to improve cancer control in the province, by providing support and connections to family physicians
- Surgical Oncology Network brings together surgeons from across BC, along with other healthcare professionals, to improve the quality of surgical oncology care
- Hereditary Cancer Program provides information, genetic counseling, and in some cases, genetic testing for individuals and families with a strong history of cancer. The HCP team includes genetic counsellors, physicians, other health care providers and researchers with expertise in cancer and medical genetics
Canadian Blood Services

To manage the blood and blood products supply for Canadians; is a not-for-profit, charitable organization.
- Collects approximately 850,000 units of blood annually and processes it into the components and products that are administered to thousands of patients each year
- Manages the OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow Network whose mission is to secure, in an expeditious way, donors for Canadian bone marrow transplant patients and for patients abroad
- Screens every donor and tests each unit of blood or blood product collected for a variety of transmissible diseases. Ensures that Canadian transfusion medicine research and development remains at the cutting edge.

Canadian Cancer Action Network

Since 2001, CCAN has served as an umbrella organization dedicating to connecting member organizations from across Canada to work underway in cancer control. Today, CCAN represents the views and interests of diverse member organizations working together in support of the innovative “CCAN Collaborative Model of Engagement,” an approach that serves as a virtual bridge to connect organizations across Canada to one another ensuring work underway in cancer control moves forward in unison. Through partnerships and resource sharing, CCAN works collaboratively with stakeholders in order to maintain momentum, avoid duplication and advance shared areas of interest to patients, caregivers and their families.
CCAN is an organization that believes in the value of collaboration. With continued funding in 2014-2016 from the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, and working under one umbrella, the Canadian patient community is measurably influencing change and accelerating action, contributing to an improved health-care system for all Canadians. We are an alliance of organizations that collectively fund most of the cancer research conducted in Canada – research that will lead to better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer and improve survivor outcomes. Canadian Cancer Registry is a collaboration between the 13 Canadian PTCRs and the Health Statistics Division of Statistics Canada, where the data are maintained. Ultimate authority and responsibility for the completeness and the quality of the data reside with the provinces and territories. The data that comes into the CCR describes both the individual with the cancer, and the characteristics of the cancer.
