I was diagnosed in February 2017 with a chronic, rate type of Leukemia called Hairy Cell Leukemia. Within a couple of weeks I was admitted to hospital as my body was so sick. My first week there was spent trying to make my immune system strong enough so I could receive 5 consecutive days of chemo. On the day 1 was to receive my 1st chemo treatment, I asked for pictures of all my family with lots of smiley faces and hearts. One of my sons made a banner, full of family pictures and smiley faces and hearts. I stood up on my bed… Yes I did and danced and said « I got this » before my 1st treatment. That was my motto!
I got critically sick with every side effect possible and to the point where the doctors said they weren’t sure I was going to get better. I lost control of a lot of my body functions including walking. I can’t remember all of it, as I was so sick. I battled as hard as I could. I kept my faith strong and prayed every single time I could. My family, friends and people I never knew were amazing with all the support I received. I was blown away. The power of positive thinking and the circle of love made it all happen for me.
7 weeks later I was finally released from the hospital. I am blessed and so thankful to be here today to write this. I pray it gives someone else hope and faith. Stay strong… You got this ! Big hugs to all!
