Stage II Colon Cancer tumour found on April 16, 2018. Tumour removed on May 1st, 2018 at Tillsonburg hospital by surgeon Dr Carmo Colaco. I was lucky as I did not require any treatment. Colorectal surgery performed and biopsy showed no cancer in tissue, lymph nodes etc. Had my follow up colonoscopy this past May 10th 2019. Clean bill of health. Just hearing the ‘C” word is terrifying. It is still hard for me to say that I’ve had cancer when I cannot compare what I went through to some who have had treatment. I can’t imagine what that would have been like. But I am thankful everyday. I’m 50 years young and am thankful I get to enjoy my first grand child coming this September. Life is super precious. My thoughts go out to those who are battling this miserable, hateful disease.
Life is precious. Living everyday to the fullest. Trying to become healthy and strong.
Being a survivor is indescribable as it is all still surreal to me until I see my scar on my belly. No words can ever describe what being a survivor means to me. Well I’ve never been asked what it means to me. I guess it means I was able to attend my oldest sons wedding last June 2018 and it means I get to enjoy my first grand child being born this September 2019 and it means I get to wake up everyday and take care of my family the way I always have and I get to grow old with the man of my dreams that I’ve been with for 33 years!
