I find hope in the fact that I know the research and patient support the society provides is living proof that it works and has made a huge difference. That is what makes me lace up my sneakers, share my fundraising link and talk about the LLSC every day.
I started Team in Training about 8 years ago in 2012-and ran SF in 2013 because of Charli, what do you do to help a child you don’t even know but know her dad? Took a break and came back when a friend was diagnosed. By doing this I am helping the greater good and help support people through their journey. I believe in what the society does and their hard work they do!
The people are what makes Team in Training so special. We continue to still meet every Saturday after the regular training season ends. The support you receive and give is amazing, everyone genuinely cares about one another. You know you are making a difference. Doing something bigger than yourself. We all have our own why and we all support one another. TNT is a great pace to be!
I decided to get involved with TNT when a work colleague’s 2 year old daughter was diagnosed with a blood cancer. The only thing I could do to support him was to join the team and fundraise. I could train, run and fundraise to show my support for him and his family through that difficult time.
Having reflected over the last 5 weeks, I realize there is so much that I have taken for granted. I appreciate the simper things. I write, every morning 3 things I am grateful for. I am taking the time to enjoy myself. Silver lining- communicating more, building different connections, communicating in different way. Appreciating the smaller things in life
