Research Programs

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's (LLSC's) research programs, along with the US (LLS), are creating tomorrow's treatments and laying the groundwork for the ultimate cures. We fund research across the continuum, from basic research through clinical trials, from bench to bedside. To date, we have invested more than $1 billion in research to advance therapies and save lives. Research grants have funded many of today's most promising advances, including targeted therapies and immunotherapies and some of the therapies first approved for blood cancer patients are now helping patients with other types of cancers and other serious diseases.

Thanks to research and access to better treatments, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled since 1960.

Scientific Review Panel

The Scientific Review Panel is responsible for the evaluation of research grant applications. It consists of experienced researchers and clinicians who convene to discuss and rank applications based on rigorous criteria. The role of the Medical & Scientific Advisory Committee is to advise the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Board of Directors on a range of issues, including periodically reviewing the organization’s medical affairs and providing guidance to the research grant process.
