Matthew first started volunteering through the First Connections program and then decided to walk with his family at Light The Night. They also run a third party fundraiser, a golf tournament where all of the proceeds raised go to their team’s goal for the Walk. Volunteering and working with the LLSC is special to Matthew as he lost his father to AML 24 years ago and this is his way of keeping his legacy alive. This also helps his young kids understand who their grandfather was.
Matthew first started walking in 2006 with his wife Jen. Matthew was joined in 2007 by his mother, sister, brother and their families and since then they have been known as TEAM EMC. Matthew, his family and a dynamic crew of friends and volunteers have organized The EMC Night Golf Tournament for the past 6 years (2018 will be the 7th), in honour of Matthew’s late father Errol Marc Cutler. All the proceeds from this tournament go towards TEAM EMC’s contribution to the LTN Walk.
Through Team EMC, Matthew and his family have raised close to $415,000 since 2006, and continue to push towards the “Miracle Million” mark. Matthew has been involved in several different aspects of the society, from First Connections, to the National Fundraising Committee, to Volunteer Leadership Committee.
Matthew was honoured to be the Friends and Family Walk Chair for 2017 along with his VLC colleague Jean Bertrand, who is the Corporate Walk Chair for 2017. Together, Matthew and Jean, look to form a dynamic team in helping the Montreal LTN Walk maintain it’s lofty position in Canada and North America.
Matthew has been married since 2005 to his wife Jen and is the proud parent of 2 bouncing boys, Evan and Jack, who have both participated in the LTN Walk, and look forward to the “Balloon Party” every year!
